How good guests should behave

Once again the well loved and travelled Celtic support gained high praise from local authorities on their good natured invasion of a foreign city.
This has partly restored the tarnished reputation of Scots abroad after the shamefull scenes witnessed earlier in the year in Manchester.
Congratulation Bhoys and Ghirls even in defeat you have represented Celtic Football Club and the Scottish people in a fun, orderly and dignified manner.

Celtic fans are praised by manchester police

CELTIC fans have been praised for their behaviour by Manchester police as they provided another positive example to everyone on how to support their team regardless of the result.

Despite the disappointment of losing 3-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League, the Celtic support further enhanced their excellent reputation and that of the Club during the visit to Manchester.

Match Commander Superintendent John Graves of Greater Manchester Police said: “I have no doubt that, for those Celtic fans who made the trip to Old Trafford for the Champions League fixture against Manchester United, it was a long and eventful day.

“Whilst I know the result of the game wasn't what Celtic fans would have wanted, the result of the overall event surely was. Any major sporting event is a challenge to police, and a sell-out crowd at one of the nation's largest stadiums for a game between two of Britain's greatest clubs, has to rank amongst the biggest.

“Making such events a success is not just down to the police and the clubs, it’s a responsibility of everyone involved, especially the supporters.

“As the Police Match Commander at Old Trafford, I would like to pass on my thanks to those Celtic fans who came to support their club in the finest traditions of genuine football fans, and ambassadors of Glasgow.

“From a policing and safety perspective, the game was a great success. There were very few incidents and arrests, and nothing that should detract from a great footballing occasion.

“I have to say that Celtic Football Club has every right to be proud of its fans. Those who braved the night in a windy and wet Manchester were a credit to the club.

“I would also like to compliment the Celtic stewards who helped tremendously throughout the game and added great value to the safety operation.

“We have a cliche in Manchester about the eyes of Europe being upon Old Trafford during these massive football games, and this was no exception.

“I believe that Celtic fans did a great deal to enhance not only the club's reputation across Europe, but also their own - well done.”

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: "I would like to thank our supporters for their magnificent behaviour in travelling to Manchester and supporting the team at Old Trafford.

"Once again, Celtic fans have shown themselves to be tremendous ambassadors for our club and our city and they have further enhanced the good name of Celtic Football Club in European football.

"Despite the disappointing result, they gave total backing to the team, recognising that the players had given everything in the game against the reigning European champions."

Welcome WE ARE NOT THE PEOPLE

This blog has been set up by and for Celtic supporters who are fed up with the double standards applied in Scotland and the Scottish media regarding the constant bile ,hatred and racism shown by the support of Rangers FC.
While our club and support have made great strides towards ridding ourselves of sectarianism and bigotry, the other club in Glasgow seem to have become even more vile in their hatred of Celtic Football Club, the Irish and anyone of Irish decent who live in Scotland.
After being shamed and forced into dropping their hateful songs by UEFA (note that it was not by the Scottish football authorities) they in their desperation and anger have turned their attentions on Celtic Football Club, our fans, our origins and our clubs history.
They have sought to defile the good name of our club and our greatest manager Jock Stein by exploiting a child abuse scandal which sadly occurred in the 1970's within Celtic Boys Club.
No regard have they taken of the victims or their families they have simply used selective information to attack our club and to attempt to destroy the name of a great Protestant man, who gave Scotland it's finest sporting hour.

So what is the Scottish media made of this?

• Have they condemned it?
• Have they started a discussion on it?
• Have they attempted to name and shame the guilty Party?

Sadly the answer is NO on all counts.
I myself have written on several occasions to broadsheet news papers in Scotland in protest of this vile campaign, not one letter has been printed, neither have I had any response.

Worst of all the Board of Directors of our club has remained tight lipped over this affair leading to anger within our support when we have to sit in OUR OWN ground and listen to these vile chants.
In the past few days we have

1. Seen our coach attacked in the street by sectarian thugs, AGAIN
   
2. listened to the bile from their support in our home, AGAIN
   
3. heard about a woman and her 2 kids being put through hell by RFC thugs
4. witnessed the showing of a banner depicting our club as ambulance chasers AGAIN in our own home
   

It's time for Celtic fans to make our feelings known on this subject and others e.g the racist "Famine Song" which I will blog about later.
